Make your Fat Loss Diets More Effective by Adding Green Tea

September 1, 2009

Many people already know that drinking green tea is good for you, but they may not be sure why. Fat loss diets are hard to stick to, and unless you are doing a drastic fad diet, have slow results, but by adding green tea to whichever program you are already on, you are likely to burn a lot more fat. Green tea contains EGCG, a powerful antioxidant that has been used for thousands of years in China and India for health and medicinal purposes. EGCG helps melt away the fat and prevents calories you consume from becoming fat. This is found in green tea only, not black or oolong, since they go through a fermentation process that dissolves this active ingredient. Green tea can be found in its natural leaf form to brew as a tea, in EGCG capsules, as extract or as liquid green tea.

Liquid green tea is a combination of green tea powdered extract and dried green tea leaves. Liquid green tea has a more concentrated dose of polyphenols and EGCG than a cup of tea has, so taking it has stronger effects. For those who don’t like the taste of green tea, this is also a nice substitution. Green tea extract can not only increase weight loss but also revers bad cholesterol and help protect against cancer and heart disease. It also decreases your appetite, increases your metabolism and can give you more energy. Liquid green tea is a quick and easy on-the-go alternative to brewing cup after cup of hot, strong tea. Its results are potent, and because it’s so effective, it is one of the most popular diet supplements on the market today.

There are many types of green tea, primarily found in China and Japan. From China, a popular one is gunpowder tea, which does look like tiny pellets until they are brewed and opened up. Furthermore there is Long Jing, or Dragonwell tea, as it is known in the US, Pi Lo Chun, or Green Snail Spring tea and Hou Kui, which has the subtle taste of orchids. From Japan, common teas include Gyokuro, known as the best Japan has to offer, Sencha, their everyday tea, and Bancha, which is much weaker than the others. There are many other green teas out there, but any of them, especially in extract form, make an effective addition to your fat loss diets.
